Like the biotechnology industry we proudly serve, the Biotech meeting held in conjunction with Pennsylvania Bio has been successful for the past 11 years because we have learned to look to innovation to make changes that improve on what has come before.
And we believe that is very much the case for Biotech 2012, which will be held on October 22 at the Sheraton Downtown Hotel in Philadelphia.
For 2012, Biotech is moving to a one-day meeting. Listening to your comments and recommendations, we’ve kept what works — or as we like to say, kept the best and dropped the rest — to develop a targeted and dynamic program and reset the price to be more affordable in these still tough economic times.
One of the “best” pieces that we have retained is the Innovation Forum. Combining our Company Showcase, Funding Roundtable, and Innovation Corridor, the Innovation Forum gives our attendees the Innovation Forum gives our attendees and presenters the chance to interact face-to-face with key business development experts, funding organizations, and industry leaders in a newly refreshed interactive setting.
The Company Showcase is designed for any bioscience company seeking capital through investors or partners to advance their programs. By utilizing a new and exciting approach to corporate presentations, companies and potential partners will be situated together, surrounded by funding organizations, key business leaders and other interested parties. While the setting may resemble a poster presentation, what and how you present your company’s information is your decision.
NEW FOR 2012: Apply for the Company Showcase and receive feedback on your pitch from industry professionals and fine tune your presentation before the meeting!
The Funding Roundtable provides a unique opportunity to meet face-to-face with multiple funding organizations from around the United States. We have extended more than 100 invitations to government agencies, venture capitalists, angel investors and more, so that you can make the proper introductions to contacts that will help companies secure financing.
The Innovation Corridor provides researchers from our leading universities and startup companies a unique opportunity to share with industry leaders their research aimed at solving problems and addressing unmet medical needs. The objective of the session, which includes an evaluation by a panel of experts in finance, marketing and legal issues, is to foster world-class collaborations among academia, startup companies and the biotechnology industry.
And also new this year, a select number of Innovation Corridor presenters will have the great opportunity to sit down with representatives of our Innovation Corridor sponsor, GlaxoSmithKline, after the meeting for even more in-depth discussions.
Through Biotech 2012, we are able to bring together highly innovative emerging companies, research institutions and funding organizations and showcase the strengths that make the New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania region a powerhouse in the life sciences industry.

Celebrate BioNJ’s 20th Anniversary
On another and very happy note, I am pleased to announce that Enzon Pharmaceuticals has rejoined BioNJ as a Core Member. It was Enzon Pharmaceuticals’ initiative that brought biotechnology industry CEOs together in the early 1990s for discussions with State officials on how to move the industry forward that led to the formation of BioNJ.
We’re going to be marking BioNJ’s 20th Anniversary at our Annual Meeting, Awards Program and Networking Event on February 7, 2013 at the Hilton East Brunswick, and there is no better way to start working toward that date than to welcome back an old friend and industry leader.
Yours in BioNJ,
