Keynote Speakers

[EXPAND Kevin Buchi, Chief Executive Officer, Cephalon]
Kevin Buchi was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Cephalon in 2010, after serving the company in other capacities for almost 20 years.

Most recently, Mr. Buchi served as Chief Operating Officer and managed the company’s global sales and marketing functions, as well as product manufacturing, business development and investor relations. From 1996 to 2009, he served as Chief Financial Officer and, from 2004, head of business development for the company. Mr. Buchi has played an instrumental role in the global growth of Cephalon through acquisitions and sound financial management. At various times in his career since joining Cephalon in 1991 as controller, Mr. Buchi has had oversight of corporate finance, accounting, information systems, facilities, human resources and administration.

Mr. Buchi graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. He was a synthetic organic chemist for the Eastman Kodak Company before going on to obtain a master’s degree in management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He worked for a large public accounting firm before beginning his career in the pharmaceutical industry with E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company in 1983. Mr. Buchi is a certified public accountant, and he serves on the board of directors of Celator Pharmaceuticals, Inc. located in Princeton, New Jersey.[/EXPAND][Expand Gino Santini, Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development, Retired, Eli Lilly]

Gino Santini retired as Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Business Development of Eli Lilly in December 2010, after a career with the company of over 27 years. He had held the position since 2007, and had become a member of the company’s Executive Committee and CEO staff since January 2004. He served as President of U.S. Operations from 1999 to 2004. Santini was born in Cesena, Italy. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Bologna in 1981 and a Master of Business Administration from the Simon School of Business, University of Rochester, in 1983.

He joined Lilly in 1983 as a financial planning associate in Italy and has held various positions in the financial and marketing components in Italy and in Indianapolis. In 1990, Santini was appointed Pharmaceutical Director for the Lilly affiliate in Belgium, and in 1991, he was named General Manager of Eli Lilly Compania de Mexico in Mexico City. He served as Area Director of Latin America from 1994 to 1995. In 1995, he became Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Business Development with the responsibility for the Public Policy and Development Group added in early 1996. He was named President of the Women’s Health Business Unit in 1997.

Santini is a past Chairman of the Board of the National Pharmaceutical Council. In addition, he serves on the Advisory Board of Noble of Indiana, a nonprofit agency serving individuals with developmental disabilities in Central Indiana where he also served as Board Chairman. Mr. Santini was recently named the 2009 Campaign Chairman for United Way of Central Indiana. He also served on the Board of Directors for United Way and the Executive Committee and Board of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.
