We have likely all heard the news by now that PLShire will acquire NPS Pharma for $5.2B, which is exciting news for our Chairman Dr. Francois Nader and the Team at NPS and the New Jersey ecosystem. Congrats to our Friends and BioNJ Member NPS!


In this edition of The Weekenderread about Lilly and Merck, two BioNJ Members that entered into a collaboration to research immuno-oncology combination regimens in multiple types of cancer. This partnership shows the strength of the New Jersey life sciences ecosystem, as the pair work strategically together in new and exciting ways.

In other exciting NJ ecosystem news, BioNJ Member Hackensack University Health Network and Seton Hall University announced a memorandum of understanding to collaboration on a new, four-year school of medicine. This initiative is destined to generate numerous opportunities for the New Jersey life sciences community.

Dr. Abraham Abuchowski of Prolong Pharmaceuticals will receive the Dr. Sol J. Barer Award for Vision, Innovation and Leadership. The keynote speaker will be The Marathon Man and Cancer Survivor, Don Wright. Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno will help BioNJ honor the more than 30 FDA drug and medical device approvals given to companies with a footprint in New Jersey.
