This week’s edition of the BioLines Weekender features lots of advances in the New Jersey ecosystem, including BioNJ Member The Medicines Company’s announcement that its investigational antibiotic, CARBAVANCE® (meropenem-vaborbactam), met both FDA and EMA pre-specified primary endpoints in the Phase 3 TANGO 1 clinical trial in patients with cUTI. Congrats to The Medicines Company Team led by 2016 BioNJ Dr. Sol J. Barer Honoree Dr. Clive Meanwell.
It was a big week for Chromocell Corporation CEO and BioNJ Board Member Christian Kopfli who was named an EY Entrepreneur of the Year and days later announced that its partnership with Nestlé , the leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company, was extended . Congrats, Christian!
In the meantime, New Jersey’s vibrant life sciences community continues to grow with BioNJ Member Hovione’s expansion of its New Jersey facility in East Windsor — expected to add approximately 60 new jobs over the next three years.
We also welcomed Hengrui Therapeutics as the newest member of our community. BioNJ President and CEO Debbie Hart had the honor of participating in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the unveiling of its new U.S. headquarters in Princeton where they will focus on the development of new oncological drugs and medications for diabetes and obesity.
We close this week’s opening letter with a plea from our adorable friend and 7-year old patient advocate, “Magic” Max Schill who has taken to motivational speaking as you will see in his video. Following in the footsteps of American actor, performance artist and director Shia LaBeouf, Max’s message was simple but strong — “Just do it – make #CuresNow a reality.” Click here to see Max’s rally for the #Path2Cures.
Wishing you a Happy and Safe Fourth of July! Thank you to all of those who have fought for our great country’s freedom!
