Talent Network Update – May 2012

Thank You to the 130 Attendees Who Participated in the Inaugural BioNJ Life Sciences Human Resource Conference on May 14 at the Hilton East Brunswick

Human resource leaders from companies involved in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostics, and contract research organizations from across the region came together on May 14 at the inaugural BioNJ Life Sciences HR Conference at the Hilton East Brunswick. Presented were new, contemporary ideas from powerful industry speakers on hot topics that impact our industry directly. Attendees took home actionable ideas to really make a difference in their organizations.

Two power-packed general sessions featured dynamic industry leaders who offered insight and vision on Creating a Culture of Compliance and New Jersey State Incentive Programs for Employers. In addition, six breakout sessions featured topics on Industry Compensation Trends; Hiring for Culture Fit, Employee Engagement in Times of Change, A Wellness Program, Social Media Strategies, and Recruiting Best Practices.

In a posting, NJBIZ reporter Jared Kaltwasser quoted Debbie Hart, President of BioNJ, as saying that human resources professionals have a lot on their plates right now.

“The landscape is changing dramatically, and the question is, how do you make sure that your people are focused and driven?” Hart said, in an interview prior to the event.

NJBIZ also noted that Vicki Gaddy, Director of the New Jersey Life Science Talent Network, said both job seekers and headhunters can benefit from networking opportunities like this and the Talent Network’s other programs and events.

“By humanizing the process in a greater way, we find we’re giving companies an opportunity to get to know the talent out there,” Gaddy said. “As opposed to resumes going into a black hole, you have people who really know each other and can reach out to resources and connections when they have key positions to fill.”
