BioNJ’s Laboratory Focus Educational Seminars
Session 1: Western Blotting
Thursday, March 27, 2014
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
BioNJ is pleased to introduce its Laboratory Focus Educational Seminars, a free Member Only benefit supported by Fisher Scientific. The first in a series of four seminars will focus on the topic of Western Blotting.
Winning Westerns: Tips and Techniques for Improved Western Blotting Workflows
Western blotting is a powerful and sensitive technique used to detect low amounts of proteins in complex samples, or to monitor protein expression and purification by protein blotting and immunodetection. Difficulties with this technique arise from poor protein transfer and antibody performance, both complicated and critical parts to the procedure, but completely optimizable with some key knowledge on membrane and antibody mechanics. We invite you to this online seminar to gain more technical insight on the science and optimization of Western blotting.
The speaker, Dr. Tim Nadler, is a Western blotting veteran. Running hundreds of Western blots per year and assisting with customer technical issues, his group has amassed a wealth of information on this technique. In his presentation, he will share some tips and techniques that may enhance your current capabilities to run “Winning Westerns”.
About the speaker:
Tim Nadler, Ph.D., is an analytical biochemist with over 20 years of industrial experience. He currently leads an application development group at EMD Millipore supporting products for life science research which include the Amicon® ultrafiltration devices, the Millicell® multiwell cell culture devices, and products for Western blotting.
